Why we vet every host in person

Every experience on GO the Local Way is visited by our team before it goes live. Here is what we look for when we meet a new host for the first time.

Every host on GO the Local Way is met in person before their experience goes live. We do this because listings and photos cannot tell us whether an experience feels authentic, safe, and respectful to the community around it.

During a visit, we look for clarity: Can the host explain what makes their offering different? Do they know their neighbors, suppliers, and local context? Is the experience sized appropriately for the space and environment?

We also watch how guests are welcomed. The best hosts make travelers feel like invited guests, not customers moving through a transaction. That tone is difficult to fake and easy to recognize in person.

This process slows onboarding, and we accept that tradeoff. Quality for us means fewer experiences that travelers remember for the right reasons.
